Although it can seem a little dichotomous that an organization so devoted to 21st century STEM learning,is headquartered in a 150 year [...] [...] [ May 21,2011;] This Saturday,May 21,we’ll be at the Green STEM Electrathon Festival ,from 9AM to 3PM. Electrathon cars are custom built three or four wheeled electric vehicles,similar in appearance to Go-Karts,but powered by an electric motor and batteries. The goal of the race is to determine which car can [...] [...] Our robot got a day at the spa today,when we stopped by Tampa Technik to visit with friend and mentor,Paul Markun. Of course,no visit to Tampa Technik is ever complete without a lesson in some aspect of exemplary engineering practices. Last time it was metrology –the science of measurement. This time,[...] [...] The robot parts have been cleared from the table to make room for the turkey. The robot runs –however imperfectly- and we think it’s a thing of beauty! Our Team Video has been submitted,along with some sample Engineering Notebook pages,in preparation for our December 4th competition at Middleton High School. And [...] [...] Nonstop visitors all interested in learning more about FIRST Tech Challenge –Our first day has been busy and engaging. Conference attendees from all around the world have poured through the FIRST exhibit area at the Rockwell Automation Fair throughout the day. And we’re having fun with FLL Team Lagooners from Cocoa,and FRC Teams [...] [...] Nothing says “new season”like a visit to one of Team Duct Tape’s most enduring friends and benefactor,Paul Markun,of Tampa Technik. Mr. Markun,who has generously shared his wonderful workshop with TDT members since the team’s founding in 2008,and last season gifted us with a beautiful hand crafted robot cart to help [...] [...] Thank you,Mr. Markun,for our magnificent cart! We started off the day in St. Pete,at Tampa Technik,picking up our finished cart,which is a thing of shiny beauty!
